Join GloryBee for our first ever Virtual Race to SAVE the BEE, Friday, September 18 – Monday, September 21. While it is true we can’t gather and race together at this time, wherever we are, we can all move our bodies to SAVE the BEE! Net proceeds of the race will support research and education on honey bee health.
A virtual race you ask? How does that work? Wherever you are, you and your family and friends can run, walk, skip, or roll to SAVE the BEE anytime between September 18th and 21st. Then you submit your finish times along with your optional photos, online at Eclectic Edge Racing.
Choose your distance for whatever suits your fitness needs: 5K, 10K or a Half-Marathon. Running on your treadmill counts, but we hope you will meet a friend and get outside!
We will mail you your t-shirt and race bib. And although we won’t be awarding prizes for the best times this year, we will be giving prizes for the best bee-themed outfits, so be sure to post a photo if you participate. You can also connect with other participants by tagging your photos @eclecticedgeracing, #virtuallyrunningtogether.
GloryBee would have hosted our 6th Annual SAVE the BEE 5K in April. We have partnered with Eclectic Edge Racing for the past five years, and we are so grateful for their creative spirit when the going got tough this spring and they jumped on the virtual race concept and adapted their website.

So why SAVE the BEE? Honey bees do the heavy lifting when it comes to pollinating our food supply (80% of pollination of food crops), and we are losing them due to pervasive pesticide use, parasites, loss of foraging habitat and poor nutrition. Join GloryBee in getting the word out that honey bees need our help! The SAVE the BEE Initiative raises funds to support research and education to ensure the future of honey bees.
