Larger than navy beans, but smaller than cannellini beans, Great Northern beans are from the common bean family, Phaseolus vulgaris. They are flat, white and kidney shaped with a mild, nutty flavor. With a firm flesh, they hold shape better than navy beans making them an excellent ingredient for soups and stews. They are commonly used in French cassoulets. Nutritionally, they are high in protein and fiber as well as a good source of the minerals calcium and iron.

Suggested Storage: The product shelf life of Great Northern Beans is dependent on storage conditions and is highly variable. They should be stored under cool, dry conditions in a humidity controlled environment. The industry standard for shelf life, when stored under optimum conditions, is 18 months from the date of manufacture.
