Inulin is a naturally occurring soluble plant fiber found in over 36,000 different plants. Some of these plants include asparagus, bananas, garlic and onion. Our inulin powder is made specifically from organic blue agave (Agave Tequilana Weber). It is a nutritive, natural sweetener used by consumers and by food manufacturers for the many functional food characteristics it provides. It is known to be both an excellent source of dietary fiber as well as a prebiotic to help support a healthy digestive system. It is also known to increase calcium and magnesium absorption which supports bone health. With a lower glycemic index compared to other natural sweeteners, it is a favored sweetener for diabetics. The fine, white, odorless powder is subtlety sweet with 10% of the sweetness of sugar. As an ingredient for cooking and baking, it has other adaptable characteristics as well. It can be used as an ingredient to replace sugar, fat and flour within a recipe and dissolves readily in water. In the end product, it will provide a more uniform texture and will add bulk and chewiness. It is commonly added as in ingredient to make probiotic supplements, fiber formulas, bars and cereals.
