Also known as moong bean and green gran, mung beans are cultivated in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, Korea, South Asia and Southeast Asia. They are used in all of these cultures to make both savory and sweet dishes including soup-like dal in India, ice cream or frozen ice pops in China and pancakes called Bindaetteok in Korea. Mung bean sprouts are the common bean sprouts found in supermarkets in the United States.
Mung beans are highly nutritious being a great source of protein and the vitamins folate and thiamine (Vitamin B1). They are also high in the minerals iron, magnesium, manganese and phosphorous.

Suggested Storage: The product shelf life of mung beans is dependent on storage conditions and is highly variable. They should be stored under cool, dry conditions in a humidity controlled environment. The industry standard for shelf life, when stored under optimum conditions, is 24 months from the date of manufacture.
