Prepared similarly to rolled oats, quick rolled oats (sometimes called instant oats) are simply cut finer and rolled thinner, resulting in a cooking time of just two to three minutes. They are commonly found in pouches with seasonings and sweeteners for a quick and nutritious breakfast. Quick rolled oats are also used in breads, bars, and granola.
Oats are among the healthiest of grains in the world. A 1/2 cup of dry rolled oats contain 51 grams of carbs, 13 grams of protein, 5 grams of fat, and 8 grams of fiber. They are a great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants including manganese, phosphorous, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc, folate, vitamin B1, and vitamin B5.

The ideal storage conditions for quick rolled oats are at less than 75% relative humidity and less than 75 degrees F. A best practice, for grain, is to store product in the cooler during summer months if not going to be used within 30 days. If stored under optimum conditions, the shelf life is one year from date of manufacture.
