Description

Pecans are from the hickory tree family and were natively grown in Mexico and the Southeastern parts of the US. Today, they are mostly grown in Georgia, New Mexico, Texas and Mexico together making up for 93% of the world supply. As a matter of fact, pecan trees are the official state tree of Texas. Like most other tree nuts, pecans are actually a seed from a drupe. A drupe is a fruit with a single pit surrounded by a husk.

Pecans are a rich source of dietary fiber, manganese, magnesium, phosphorous, zinc and thiamine. They are also a good source of protein, iron and B vitamins. The fat content is mainly composed of healthy monounsaturated fats including oleic acid (approximately 57% on average) and the polyunsaturated fat linoleic acid (approximately 30% on average).

With a rich, buttery flavor our small choice pecans are the perfect size to use in cooking and baking. They are very finely chopped and work especially well as a topping for ice cream and as a garnish for chocolates and confections.
