This is a very fine flaked dried coconut. Professional bakers refer to it as "macaroon cut" hence the name. Macaroons are small biscuits typically made with either fine ground coconut or almonds. Coconut macaroons are the most popular in America whereas almond macaroons are more popular in Europe. These flakes are pure and dried without anything added; without sweetener and preservative free.
Nutritionally, coconut contains 18 grams of fat (16 grams of which are saturated fat) per 1 ounce serving. It also contains 7 grams of carbohydrates, 5 grams of fiber and 2 grams of protein. Coconut is a significant source of the micro-nutrients manganese, iron, phosphorous and zinc. Because of the higher fat content, coconut is popular in Paleo and Ketogenic diets. Suggested Storage: The product shelf life is dependent on storage conditions and is highly variable. Macaroon coconut should be stored under cool, dry conditions and in a humidity controlled environment. The industry standard for shelf life, when stored under optimum conditions, is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Discoloration may occur after 6 months but does not affect the quality of the product.
