Whole Sulphured Turkish Apricots #2

These are the Malatya variety of apricots. Malatya is a large city in the Eastern Anatolia region of Tukey and is the capital of Malatya Province. It is a city that is renowned for its apricots. Up to 80% of Turkish apricots come from Malatya. Not only are dried apricots delicious but they are also packed with nutrition. When apricots are dried, the relative concentration of nutrients is increased resulting in a vitamin A, vitamin E, potassium, and iron content of above 25% daily value for a 100 gram serving.  They also have a lower glycemic index and high fiber content. The #2 indicates the size of the apricot. A size 2 means that there are 101 - 120 whole apricots per kilogram (2.2 pounds).
