Navy bean flour is becoming a popular ingredient for gluten-free cooking and baking as well as in vegan cuisine. Simply made from ground small white navy beans, navy bean flour is high in dietary fiber, protein, magnesium, and phosphorous. It is also a good source of folate, manganese, vitamin B1, copper, and iron.
Off-white to cream in color and with a smooth, nutty flavor, navy bean flour has a wide variety of applications. It is used as a thickener for sauces and gravies, as a base for dips and soups, and as an ingredient to make crackers, bread, and pancakes. It can even be used to make an instant soup by just adding water and seasoning.
